Get A Job

job-find-logoI am not sure what form my new work will look like but I have been exploring some options. What skills have I got. What talent can I sell? What is going to be my side hustle that doesn’t annoy the boss at my job that pays all the bills but helps me to speed the debt repayment.

The Canadian government has an online job bank and I searched for jobs in my area and was very encouraged by the jobs I saw. None of them for me but a lot of decent paying full-time jobs for welders, chemists, book keepers, bank tellers and other skilled jobs. Things must be looking up in my community because that is more good jobs than I have seen in years. The only jobs I was qualified for where the part-time counter attendants at Tim Horton’s – a donut shop that has dozens of locations in every Canadian city.

My local online newspaper had 3 jobs listed that are probably filled because they were posted in the middle of December. There were the sketchy jobs there as well. The jobs that don’t pay enough for the effort. Driver for the local liquor delivery service but it is BYOC (bring your own car), home jewellery sales, Friday and Saturday night special hostesses who must have a lot of people skills (that one sounds illegal) and long distance trucker. I can’t parallel park my car so the world would be a safer place if I wasn’t allowed behind the wheel of the big rig.

If you google work from home you get lots of scams. I didn’t see 1 job that looked like a real job. A job that paid you and didn’t ask you to invest money first.

I will have to be more creative to find some work that will pay me.

PS

I changed my landline from Bell to my local cable company almost 2 months ago. I have received 2 final bills from Bell since then. 1 was the final month’s bill stating that they owed me $11.00. The other was a final statement of account stating that they owe me $11.00. 2 months, 2 statements and still no cheque for $11.00.

January No Spend update

Still holding at $17.00. I will need part or all of that $17.00 for gas. I pulled homemade pasta sauce out of the freezer for supper tonight and tomorrow night. Frozen homemade chili for the weekend. After that pickings get pretty slim but there is still a lot to choose from but I will  have to put effort in to cooking. Did I mention that I love take out meals and would rather buy a meal than make 1 any day? People that eat only take out must have very clean kitchens.
